the perfect sandwich

The past couple of days I've been eating what I consider the perfect sandwich.  All I really need for that is the perfect, freshly baked bread.  The simplest meals are often the best.

The chocolate chip cookies. Always best to eat straight out of the oven and with a glass of cold milk.

I love how brown sugar is so compact, beautifully granulated & the perfect shade of brown.

Yesterday was another cloudy & dreary day. I decided I would bake cookies for the second time this month (which is not typical), but this time, I made a whole photo shoot out of it.  It was a good time and as usual, the end result was very delicious.

Still exploring golden beets.  They look so beautiful in the right light and when you cut into them, they are exactly as they are named: golden.

My first day of 2012 was low key.  It was a quiet and chilly Sunday that had me thinking about the warmth of a kitchen, so baking chocolate chip cookies seemed only natural.

Turnips are a very strange root.  Pastel & beautiful. Large & plentiful.

Golden beets are such a vibrant vegetable.  I truly had no idea how interesting they were until I pulled my camera out and started documenting their funny little roots.
