asparagus

4.30.2012

Love how asparagus looks, but not really a huge fan of how it tastes.  Perhaps, I am just not cooking it in a way that will let its taste shine... or perhaps not.

my favorite breakfast

4.27.2012

Strawberries + yogurt + granola is the perfect combination for breakfast.  It's a good mix of sweet & tart and pretty healthy to boot.

Hyacinths: spring's  luscious bloom.

strawberry

4.24.2012

I love strawberry jam.

air plants

4.23.2012

My little apartment home keeps getting greener & greener.  We have a billowing Basil plant on the porch as well as a baby Japanese Maple tree, "Money" Tree, some type of bonsai pine, Venus Fly Trap, a grab bag of wildflowers, and a "dragon leaf" plant. Inside, we are nurturing four or five orchids and I am tending to my favorite succulents, a Jade plant and some kind of non-prickly cactus.
We've just recently introduced these two little air plants to our collection. They are super easy to take care of and add a nice touch of simplicity to the windowsill.  My hope is that one day we'll own a house and have our own green room.

bouquet

4.20.2012

This is one of the prettiest bouquets of flowers I've seen.  I would like to have a bouquet like this in my home every day-- a lovely, bright pick me up.

sage

4.19.2012

I had sage leftover from a recent shoot I did that required a bounty of different vegetables and herbs.  For whatever reason, I've never really bought sage and I was really taken by its softness and subtle fragrance.  This image is also what I would consider one of my favorite color palettes-- I love slate blues and minty greens.

red

4.18.2012

It's a bit of a dreary day in Atlanta-- overcast, rainy, glum.  I could go for a dose of these red maple leaves.

solitude

4.17.2012

I love the solitude of this pink flower.

bacon donuts

4.16.2012

One of the dessert options at Abbatoir was a carmalized flan & tiny bacon donuts. Yes, bacon donuts.  They have got to be the tastiest treats I've ever had. They are the perfect two-bite size proportion and were served warm & fresh. Lucky for me, there were leftovers.

eight year old film

4.13.2012

I was happily surprised to find that my Polaroid camera still had some exposures left in it--3, to be exact.  My natural inclination was to use my dog, Scout, as a test model. I love that the film looks so warm and aged.  Now I just need to think of the last 2 thing I want to photograph before the magic is gone!

the thing about spring

4.12.2012

Spring is the best season in GA. It's not too hot or too humid yet. The mornings start off with a slight chill that eases into a sunny warmth for the rest of the day. It's perfect, but doesn't last too long.  Before we know it, it will be sweltering.

rainbow carrots

4.11.2012

It's rare that something--especially produce--stops me in my tracks.  When I saw these carrots, I just had to stop.  I never knew that carrots came in a variety of colors.  The purple carrot is the coolest in the bunch.  I can't wait to get creative with these little fellows.

vegetation

4.09.2012

Today's shoot required an assortment of vegetables. Happily, I was able to get all of these (plus half dozen brown eggs & 24 quail eggs) at the Dekalb Farmer's Market and for only $29! I'm looking forward to shooting the herbs and "rainbow carrots" separately, but for today I needed to make them come together in a very loving shape: a heart. Creating a heart from non-pliable vegetables is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be, but I think I got it in the end.

abbatoir

4.08.2012

For my birthday, my parents & I went to Abbatoir.  I had heard and read great reviews about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The whole atmosphere of the place oozes clean & cool.  The light fixtures are held up by meat hooks. The place is spacious with large windows that surrounds the eating room and lets in the most amazing light.
The food was so incredible.  Every item on the menu sounded appetizing that it was hard to decide on a meal.  I ended up getting a beet salad as an appetizer, trout for the main course, and devil's food cupcake with caramel popcorn and vanilla ice cream for dessert. All of it was perfection.
I highly recommend dining here if you have the chance.  I wish I had been able to take photos with something other than my iPhone, but these images shall do for now.

reptilian

4.05.2012

When I was at the park this past weekend, I was taken aback by this tree.  The texture and colors made certain parts of it look like crocodile's skin...and eye, like in the image on top.  Nature is pretty great.

calling card

4.04.2012

I just received my new business cards in the mail! They are too wonderful for words.  I ordered them through Moo and did the Luxe business card option.  They are printed on a super thick card stock and have a nice "natural" texture.  I look forward to handing and mailing them out.

hooray!

4.03.2012

I am pleased to announce that my website & logo have had makeovers. There's a bounty of new images on both "eat" and "still" pages, plus videos! The site is hosted through virb.com and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Please enjoy the new digs!

rabbit, rabbit

4.02.2012

When I was little, my aunt told me to say "rabbit, rabbit" in the morning on the first day of every month for good luck. I always try to remember to say it, but if I forget then I can always say "tibbar, tibbar" before I go to sleep.
